The United Punjabis of America (UPA) organized a vibrant Diwali Mela on October 12, 2024, at the Yellow Box Auditorium in Naperville, drawing community members together in a celebration of culture and tradition. The event featured a rich lineup of live music, traditional dances, and cultural showcases, skillfully hosted by Pratibha Jairath, Atul Wahi, Anu Malhotra, and Neha Sobti. Esteemed guests including Mayor Scott Wehrli, Consul Sanjeev Pal, and local judges and aldermen highlighted the event’s emphasis on diversity and inclusion. A key attraction was the bustling marketplace with over 35 vendors offering ethnic goods, crafts, and festive items. Attendees enjoyed authentic Indian cuisine catered by Punjabitarian Services and Golden Sun Foods, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere. Technical support by Shivam Vishwanathan ensured seamless audio-visual presentations throughout the program. UPA’s mission of preserving Punjabi culture and promoting community service was evident in every aspect of the event. The organization honored outstanding individuals such as Dr. Jyoti Kalra, Aarav Batra, and Advik Dhand for their contributions to service and achievement. The success of the Mela was made possible by the generous support of sponsors, including LLT Group and several local businesses. UPA’s leadership and executive team worked tirelessly to deliver a memorable event that embodied the spirit of Diwali and community unity.
